SNAP, HIP and Fresh Bucks

You can use SNAP with most of the vendors at the Arlington Farmers’ Market.

What is SNAP?

SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, was formerly known as Food Stamps. Learn more about SNAP here.

What is HIP?

The Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) puts money back on your EBT card when you use SNAP to buy fruits and vegetables from HIP vendors at Farmers’ Markets and farm stands. If you have SNAP, you are automatically registered for HIP!

The current HIP amount for all households is $20 per month. This amount should be increasing after June 30, 2024.

The Arlington Farmers’ Market has four HIP vendors; Busa Farm, Dick’s Market Garden, Kimball Fruit Farm, and Nicewicz Family Farm. Learn more about HIP here.

What are Fresh Bucks?

Arlington EATS Fresh Bucks provides access to fresh, locally-grown produce, meat, and breads through the Arlington Farmers’ Market. Each week, SNAP card holders can come to the Arlington EATS booth at the Farmers’ Market and receive a match up to $15 in Fresh Bucks for any SNAP purchase made at the farmers’ market. Fresh Bucks may be used with most vendors.

Arlington EATS Fresh Bucks - How it works

STEP 1 - Use your SNAP card to shop at the Arlington Farmers’ Market*. Save your receipts.

STEP 2 - Bring your receipts to the Arlington EATS booth. Each week we will match up to $15 in SNAP purchases with Fresh Bucks vouchers.

STEP 3 - Use your vouchers throughout the season to shop at the Farmers’ Market. Most vendors accept Fresh Bucks (vouchers cannot be used to purchase alcoholic beverages)

*You can use SNAP at Busa Farms, Copicut Farm, Dick’s Market Garden, Kimball Fruit Farm, and Nicewicz Family Farms.
